A delegation from the Republic of Abkhazia, led by Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, visited the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul, where they met with Alexander Kalachev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul.

The meeting was attended by Daur Kove, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Abkhazia; Said Gubaz, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Abkhazia; and Ibrahim Avidzba, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Turkey.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on current issues on the Abkhaz-Russian agenda, including cultural interaction and work with the Abkhaz diaspora in the Republic of Turkey.

Alexander Kalachev spoke about the joint projects being implemented by the Consulate General with the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Turkey and representatives of the Abkhaz diaspora. It was noted that cooperation is developing across a wide range of areas and has a rich joint agenda. Special attention was paid to the role of the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centers and the Abkhaz Diaspora in preserving of national and cultural traditions, developing of humanitarian ties, and implementing of joint projects.

At the end of the meeting, Alexander Kalachev briefed the delegation on the activities of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul and gave them a tour of the diplomatic mission building.
